Country conventions RoleSharp adapts

  • Length. US and Canada default to one page; UK, Europe, and India commonly use two; academic CVs run longer.
  • Photo. Expected in Germany, France, and the UAE; discouraged or illegal to request in the US, UK, and Canada.
  • Personal details. Date of birth and marital status appear on some international resumes but should be omitted for US/UK applications.
  • Date format. Month-Year vs Year-Month-Day vs Day-Month-Year depending on the market.
  • Section order and naming. "Experience" vs "Employment History" vs "Work Background"; education-first for new grads, experience-first for senior.
  • Keyword expectations. Local job-title and skill terminology — "software engineer" in the US vs "software developer" in Canada, for example.

How it works

  1. Build or import your resume once — your master content stays the same.
  2. Set the target country for each application. RoleSharp reformats for that market.
  3. Paste the local job description to tailor keywords to that country's terminology.
  4. Export a country-correct PDF for each market you're applying to.

Frequently asked questions

Does RoleSharp translate resume text into other languages?
RoleSharp focuses on country adaptation rather than literal text translation — it rebuilds the resume's formatting, conventions, and keyword structure for the target market. For full text translation you'd pair it with a translation tool; for making a resume read correctly in a new market's format, RoleSharp handles it directly.
What's the difference between translating and adapting a resume?
Translating swaps the words. Adapting fixes the format: a US resume is one page with no photo; a UK CV is two pages; a German CV includes a photo and date of birth; a UAE resume expects a photo. Literal translation keeps the wrong format; adaptation fixes both.
Which countries are supported?
200+. The builder asks for your target country and adjusts section order, length, photo conventions, date formats, and keyword expectations for that specific market.
Can I adapt my existing resume for a new country?
Yes. Upload or paste your existing resume into the fixer or builder, set the target country, and RoleSharp rebuilds it with the correct conventions for that market.
Is country adaptation free?
Yes — the free plan includes 3 country-adapted resumes a month. You can build a US resume, a UK version, and a UAE version of the same content on the free tier.
