How the resume fixer works

  1. Upload or paste your old resume. PDF, DOCX, or plain text — the fixer reads the content itself, so an export from an old builder or a LinkedIn download works fine. Files are used for text extraction and temporary parser copies are cleaned up after processing.
  2. Set the target. Pick the country you're applying in, and optionally the role, company, and job description. The more target context you give it, the sharper the keyword analysis gets.
  3. Get a scored fix plan. The checker returns a score out of 100 with a breakdown: parseability, keyword match against the job post, bullet quality, and section structure — plus the highest-impact fixes ranked first.
  4. Repair the weak bullets. Duty-style lines are flagged with a suggested rewrite pattern, so you fix the exact sentences that are dragging the score down instead of rewriting the whole document.
  5. Rebuild if it's worth it. One click sends your content into the manual maker with the target pre-filled, so a full rebuild starts from your real text, not a blank page.

Before and after: what a fix actually looks like

The most common problem in old resumes is the duty-style bullet — a line that describes what you were assigned, not what changed because of you. The fixer flags these and shows the repair pattern:

  • Before: "Responsible for handling customer support tickets."
    After: "Resolved 40+ support tickets a week with a 92% first-response resolution rate."
  • Before: "Worked on the company website."
    After: "Rebuilt the marketing site in Next.js, cutting page load time from 4.1s to 1.3s."
  • Before: "Helped with monthly reports."
    After: "Automated the monthly reporting pipeline, reducing prep time from 2 days to 3 hours."

Same facts, same person — the difference is action, scope, and a measurable result. That pattern is what both ATS ranking and human skimming reward, and it's the single highest-leverage fix in most old resumes.

What the score measures

The score isn't a vanity number — each point maps to something an applicant tracking system or recruiter actually checks. Structure covers whether the layout parses into clean fields: single column, standard headings, contact details in the body. Keywords compare your text against the job description and target role, flagging the exact terms recruiters would search for that you never use. Evidence measures whether bullets carry numbers, scope, and outcomes rather than responsibilities.

Because the breakdown is itemized, you can fix in order of impact. Most resumes gain the most from repairing the top three flagged bullets and adding the missing keywords that honestly apply — usually under thirty minutes of work for a visibly different result.
